Gauged M-flation and 1/N Resolution to the eta Problem in Many-Fields Inflationary Models


In the first part of my seminar, I will talk about GaugedM-flation, an inflationary model in which inflation is driven by three NxNscalar field matrices in the adjoint representation of U(N) gauge group. Iwill show how the Gauged M-flation model could be derived from the dynamicsof a stack of D3-branes in an appropriate background flux. In the secondpart, I will show how the eta problem, that the slow-roll parameter eta receives order one quantum loop corrections, is absent in inflationary models having a large number of scalar fields.
